[Top Ten Tues] #15

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke & The Bookish.

This week's Top Ten
[Top Ten Most Intimidating Books]

Kait's Picks:

Reckless (Thoughtless, #3)  Beautiful Redemption (Caster Chronicles, #4)  Legend (Legend, #1)
Captive in the Dark (The Dark Duet, #1)  Love Unscripted (Love, #1)
Reckless
-I've been holding onto this one for so long, but I am so afraid to start it because I've had such a love/hate relationship with this series and I want to LOVE the end.

Beautiful Redemption
-This is another series ending book and I am afriad! I loved this series until Beautiful Chaos, but I want to love it again.

Legend
-I'm afraid it won't live up to the hype. I hate hype.

Captive in the Dark
-I have heard nothing but good things about this book, but it still scares the bejeezus out of me. Check out the warning: “WARNING: This book contains very disturbing situations, dubious consent, strong language, and graphic violence. “

Love Unscripted
I really, really want to read the pretty copy sitting on my bookshelf, but it is long. For some reason this has made me move this further down on my list.
Bethany's Picks:

The Fault in Our Stars  Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Harry Potter, #1)  Delirium (Delirium, #1)
Bared to You (Crossfire, #1)  Rapture (Fallen, #4)

The Fault in Our Stars
- Yeah. Cancer... freaks me out. I've had some seriously hard times in my life that revolved around cancer. I'm a BIG fraidy cat with anything that even MENTIONS any type of cancer.

Harry Potter (Series)
- Yep, I went there. I'm gonna say it. *raises hand* I ADMIT, I HAVE NEVER READ HARRY POTTER. Now I just.. I don't know. I want to sometimes, but I feel like I just can't. I'm sure I'll love it... it's... I just can't explain it. [Please stop yelling at me!]

Delirium
- Nope, haven't read this either. I know it's one of those OMG you HAVE to read this type books. Oddly enough I was lucky enough to get a signed copy of Requiem at BEA. I do plan on reading this before they make a television series out of it, so I can be just as mad as all of you! :)

Bared To You
- I have a copy of this on my kindle. I have a signed copy of Reflected in You. I'm just afraid of it. I liked FSoG. Won't lie. The 3rd one... not so much, but I definitely LOVED those books when I read them. They introduced me to a whole new genre of reading... so some may say its one of the worst series out there, but I'll say it loud and proud. I loved it when I read it. I know I'll love this one too.. but I just haven't got there yet. I guess I'm waiting for the series to end.

Rapture
- I was disappointed by Passion. so... I'm kinda afraid to read this, even though it's the last installment in the series. Fallen and Torment were great. Passion was just a let down for me and I'm not sure if I'm ready to POSSIBLY be let down again.

  1. I was nodding along with a few books on the list until I saw Harry Potter. What?!?! How can someone not read this series. You should go do it now. It really is lovely and the characters are amazing!! *steps off soapbox*

I'm intimidated by The Fault In Our Stars. A. it is in a genre I don't particularly like. B. I've heard from practically everyone how amazing it is. It would be just my luck that I'd be the one to hate it.

  2. Let's see - I agree with Beautiful Redemption, although I've only read the first book in this series. I'm a little intimidated to read further, not because I didn't enjoy the first one, but because it is a pretty epic story and I have NO IDEA where they're going with this.

John Green's books - ugh, they're all so good, but they all make me cry like a baby. The Fault in Our Stars was a very good book though.

And Harry Potter - I understand your concern. How can something live up to THAT MUCH HYPE!??! But somehow it does, and does it brilliantly. Eventually you will read it, but if you're not ready to do it, don't worry. The time will come. :)

Great list! Thanks for following my blog!

  3. I feel the same about cancer - it's just too close to home.

  4. I encourage you to read The Fault In Our Stars and HP- both were great! Nothing to get intimidated about, and though HP takes time to finish, it's usually a pretty automatic-page-flipping kind of experience. And the Fault was, contrary to popular belief, a light read in its own right. That's what I loved about the characters really! they were able to have fun despite what they were going through. I didn't like Delirium at all, but I thought Bared To You was exciting :D Great picks here!

  7. HP is definitely quite the epic & intimidating read... I should have totally included it in mine anyway even though I HAVE read it! I totally see how Delirium can also fit in this category since so many love it so much!

Thanks for stopping by my TTT!
