[Review] Escaping Reality - Lisa Renee Jones

Escaping Reality - Lisa Renee Jones
Escaping Reality (The Secret Life of Amy Bensen, #1)

"I guess ghosts are like lies. They swim like sharks all around me."

“Run to me, Amy, not from me."

I’ve been wanting to read this book for what seems like eternity. I finally got a chance to read something I wanted to read strictly just for me, no blog or author entails. Let me tell you, this was my first Lisa Renee Jones story. I’ve wanted to read the Inside Out series, but I just haven’t got there yet… so I don’t have any other of her works to compare this to. However – Lisa blew my mind. I’m the type of person that will sit there and theorize EVERYTHING. I couldn’t stop jumping to conclusions, re-evaluating my theories and adjusting my personal character analysis’. This book has all the components needed in a novel highlighting the dangerous, sexy, and mysterious sides.

I’m gonna throw this right out there. I CAN’T wait for the next novel to come out.  Escaping Reality left my jaw hanging open.  What is going to happen next!? GAAAAAAH. Did I read what I think I did!? No. It can’t be. Is it betrayal or a misunderstanding? I NEED to know!!!  Not to mention… With all the bits and pieces that you get from the main character (Amy) about her past – you still don’t know exactly what happened. All you know is that it’s bad. Very bad. Life altering, Run for the rest of your life bad. Hence the million and a half theories that I have rattling around up in the empty space in my head! What is she running from… Or Who?! Throughout the book you hear of  Amy’s “handler” who is helping her stay safe. Or is he? Gah. I just don’t know. Who is who?! What is What!?

Speaking of who is who, I have two words for you. Liam Stone. Liam just screams SEXY. Not only is he a billionaire, but he is so invested in Amy after such a short time. I don’t know what I think about him now, after finishing the book (because of the cliffhanger that won’t be mentioned [y’know the one we don’t speak of type thing]) I’m not sure how I feel about him even after he brought Pi to a whole new level of deliciousness. During the entire story though,  completely head over heels in love with his character. I’m pretty sure that no one could get enough of him.  With his instant connection to Amy, You can’t help but fall for him… or Amy for that matter. I absolutely loved Amy’s character. She is snarky, sassy, intelligent, fierce, and just beautiful on so many levels. Oh and Jared? I’ve got some theories about him as well. The connection Amy feels to him…. Hmmm. Lisa definitely makes her characters relatable and well defined. Every character has just the right amount of mystery and allure.

I’m so glad that this was my first Lisa Renee Jones book. Not only can I not wait for the next installment to be released, but I’m definitely looking forward to reading more of her works.  Lisa really knows how to captivate just the right amount of sexy, mystery, danger, humor, love, and allure. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes a little bit of everything. Every time I think about this novel my jaw tends to drop. That ending… I just can’t. I don’t know what’s going to happen and I need some answers! So many theories and just as many questions… my mind is reeling. Seriously just go out and read this book, you won’t regret it. I do suggest that you wait until a little closer to the release of the second installment though. Unless you’re a glutton for punishment like myself!
