Seventeen-year-old Eva is a chosen one. Chosen to live, while others meet a swift and painful death from an incurable virus so lethal, a person is dead within days of symptoms emerging. In the POD system, a series of underground habitats built by the government, she waits with the other chosen for the deadly virus to claim those above. Separated from family and friends, it's in the PODs she meets David. And while true love might not conquer all, it's a balm for the broken soul.
After a year, scientists believe the population has died, and without living hosts, so has the virus. That's the theory, anyway. But when the PODs are opened, survivors find the surface holds a vicious secret. The virus mutated, infecting those left top-side and creating... monsters.
Eva and David hide from the infected in the abandoned PODs. Together they try to build a life--a new beginning. But the infected follow and are relentless in their attacks. Leaving Eva and David to fight for survival, and pray for a cure.

20 RANDOM QUESTIONS
1. Do you prefer straight or bendy straws?
Bendy straws, but I always have to fight my husband for them. He hides them.
2. Whats your lucky number?
91088—it’s my wedding anniversary. The best day of my life and the best decision I’ve ever made.
3. Do you prefer sunrises or sunsets?
Sunsets, although I see quite a few sunrises when I’m up early to write before the kids get up.
4. Whats your favorite swear word?
Ha! I’ve done a few interviews and I have to say, this is the first time I’ve been asked this! Everyone in my family would agree that the word I favor is Damn.
5. Whats the last thing you took a picture of?
I worked at a homeless shelter last night serving dinner to more than fifty families. I took photos of some of the people I met and talked with during the evening.
6. What's your favorite color?
It really depends on the day, but I love all shades of pinks and purples.
7. Who would you want to play you in a movie of your life?
Wow, I have no idea. I’ll go with Sarah Michelle Gellar.
8. Can you name all 50 American states?
I can honestly say YES to this question. And that’s only because I helped my son with a school project just before the end of the year that dealt with the fifty states and I still remember them...otherwise the answer would’ve been no, sadly.
9. Have you ever danced in the rain?
Yes I have, with my husband. I’ve also danced in the rain with my kids. We also go frog hunting in the rain, which is *almost* as fun.
10. What's something no one knows about you?
That even though I try not to let it show, extremely negative reviews of PODs hurt really bad and I sometimes go into the bathroom and have a little cry-fest. I don’t think people realize when they write their reviews that authors see them and when they tear into a book, they are tearing into the author in a sense. And it’s very hurtful. I try to act like I have thick skin and I’m fine with it—but, really I could do without the nasty remarks. If someone doesn’t like the book that’s okay, but please be nice about it. :)
11. If you could go anywhere RIGHT NOW, where would it be?
I’m happy right where I am. My husband next to me on the couch (folding laundry!) My three young kids around me—one right next to me reading everything I’m typing. The other two watching a Disney movie. Yeah, I’m perfect where I am. Plus, I’m exhausted right now and I’m in my P.J.s. :)
12. Whats your favorite book beginning with the letter F?
Flat Out Love by Jessica Park. It’s such an original story. I loved it.
13. Who do you believe to be your greatest inspiration?
My Grandmother. She took me to the library nearly every weekend.
14. Do you believe in kharma?
Well, there are two ways to look at Karma. One is fate and the other is the belief that our future life will be dictated by our current behavior. Truthfully, I’m not sure. I’m not as big a believer in fate as I am in the old adage that “we get what we sow.” I’d like to think that those who treat each other well will be blessed for it and those who do not treat others well—won’t be.
15. Whats the best piece of advice anyone has ever given you?
If it’s worth having, it’s worth working for.
16. Whats the scariest thing you've ever done?
Becoming a mother. There’s nothing scarier than having another life depend on you for everything.
17. If you met a Genie who offered you three wishes, what would you wish for?
1. Peace
2. An economy that can provide jobs for all able bodied adults and a program to integrate the very poor/homeless into the working community.
3. Happiness and health for my children
18. Whats the most expensive thing you've ever broken?
A brand new plasma 52-inch television. It wasn’t balanced on the table (which I didn’t realize) and I bumped into it and it toppled off. Oops.
19. Do you prefer tea, coffee or cocoa?
Cocoa with whipped cream.
20. Do you often read your horoscope?
No, I never read it.

MEET THE AUTHOR:
I'm a wife, mother, author, reader, although not always in that order. I write young adult urban fantasies, science/fiction and paranormal romances and have recently started dabbling in young adult contemporary romance. Reading was one of my earliest passions, writing soon followed. I began writing seriously during college where I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in accounting. Why I chose a career that frowns on creativity remains a mystery.
I’m addicted to Reese’s peanut butter cups and eat way too many while I write (I’m currently trying to kick this habit), have an abnormal obsession with hoodies and can’t write without one, and I hate to cook, but love to watch cooking shows on television. An unabashed romantic, I love a swoon-worthy ending that will give me butterflies for days.
I wrote my debut young adult novel, PODs, in 2011. PODs, a science/fiction, post-apocalyptic romance was released June 4, 2013 through the amazing Spencer Hill Press. My second young adult title, Milayna, a paranormal romance, will release through Spencer Hill Press in March 2014. Milayna’s Angel (Milayna #2) is scheduled for release September 2014. The Infected, a PODs novel, will release November 2014. It is the second, and last, book in the PODs series. The Innocent (Milayna #3), the third and final book in the Milayna series, will release in April 2015.
I was born and raised in Flint, Michigan. I now reside in a small community outside Houston, Texas with my incredibly supportive, not to mention gorgeous, husband, three amazing school-aged children, a 125-pound lap dog, and an extremely snooty cat.
