*Singapore has stolen a piece of Ava Thompson.*
It took one life shattering moment, for her to realize, her EX is not the man she believed him to be. Returning home to Los Angeles was never going to be easy for Ava. Her heart has been shattered to smithereens and she's convinced it'll never heal. Or, so she thought.
*Enter Jasper White.* *Unbeknown to Ava, Jasper White will change her life forever.*
The attraction is instantaneous which troubles Ava, who has sworn off men indefinitely. But, she is finding resisting Jasper, with his tousled bedroom hair and piercing cerulean eyes, harder than she ever imagined. And that's because Jasper knows what he wants, and he wants Ava.
But, can Ava surrender to her feelings for the one man who compels her to love again? Because, what happens if love does not triumph all? What happens if love isn't enough?

-REVIEW-
“Your generosity, your convictions and your heart, they astound me.”
For about a year now, I’ve been chatty with Monica over goodreads. When I read the synopsis to her debut novel, I about hit the floor. I knew I had to read this, and not only because Monica is SUCH a sweetheart and the talks about our furry friends (we both love our animal babies so much…) but because it sounded AWESOME. I couldn’t wait for this book to be released, and before it did I got a message asking if I wanted an ARC to review. Who would say no to that question!? Hah. Not me, Not with this novel. I feel so privileged every day to have been lucky enough to receive such a gracious gift. I’d love to say Thank you Monica, and thank you to the publishers.
This novel is just an addictive emotional ride. You know those rides where you’re like “Oh… this isn’t gonna be THAT bad” and then all of a sudden you’re doing 75mph down a 200ft near death straight drop that leads into a loop and twists and you’re left with a look of “What the hell just happened?!” but smiling and thinking to yourself “That. Was. FABULOUS!” Everything that you read in I surrender, you feel. All the emotions are brought to life by plot developments, highs and lows, and every scene. The characters are so genuine and relatable.
I surrender is filled with moments that will make you frustrated, angry, happy, devastated, mixed with comical events and beautiful imagery. This debut novel is an honest to god non-stop-read. I already want more Ava and Jasper. I want to tell you to go out and get this book right now, so that you can suffer with me, while the wait is on for Book 2. I know, I’m terrible… but you will LOVE this book. I do have to throw this randomness out there though, While reading parts of this book I was totally in the man-hater club. My poor husband didn’t know what hit him. He never does, though. All the abuse he gets from my lashing out about my books, hehe.
The characters were just down right impeccable. I lived for Ava and Jasper. I was absolutely floored with Ava’s best friend V (Veronica). I thought Ava was strong, sexy, and beautifully broken. I understand how someone can put their life on hold for someone else, but I’m not sure I’d be willing to sacrifice that much. I’m pretty selfish, Unlike Ava… who did everything for everyone else. Jasper on the other hand… lawd jebus. Piercing Cerulean eyes… that right there is a dead giveaway. Not to mention thes purposely shaggy but perfect hair you want to ruffle and mess up. I really enjoyed the cat and mouse game that they had going for them. Will they? Or won’t they? The sexual tension alone was killing me! Add in the actual tension and Oh Boy!
I LOVED Veronica. V is the definition of FIERCE. She is a real cocky, no-shit-taking, spit fire of a woman. Not to mention that she’s tatted and pierced. She is very free with her words and isn’t afraid to tell you things you don’t want to hear. I can’t help but to someday aspire to be someone as great as her. Devoted and attentive, she is definitely the best friend everyone should have. The relationship she had with her boyfriend as well, Pssh. I almost want to say I liked her better than Ava. They both definitely had their moments about them.
I overly loved this book. The lust and love between Jasper and Ava was mind-blowing. Everytime I put this down, I would pick it back up. I literally took this book with me everywhere. I even got yelled at a few times for not paying attention to real life, haha. Oops. November 1st can’t come fast enough for me. Even though there was no real cliffhanger, I need to know what happens next. I’m worried about what’s to come. The ups and downs of this novel definitely has be wondering how this new equation will be played out in Book 2.
I thoroughly enjoyed this novel, and for a Debut author… Monica James will steal your heart. You are awe-inspiring and I have nothing but high hopes and wonderful wishes for you and your career. You’ve been blessed with creativity and the ability to transfer it into written word. I hope everyone enjoys this as much as I did, and I suggest that you go out and get this RIGHT MEOW!
